Each week, you can join a conversation group. This is a great option to practice your conversational English language skills with current USC students in an informal, comfortable, setting. Conversation topics include American culture, university life, current events and other topics of interest. Come talk with us!

What to expect in a Conversation Group

Conversation Groups are limited to 4 people maximum; one current USC student who hosts the session and up to three USC International Academy students, depending on the time and day. Sessions run 45 minutes in length and provide an opportunity to practice conversational English skills with a peer, in a comfortable small group setting. There is no additional charge for the sessions and they are scheduled around class time, as not to conflict with your studies.

Where to Meet

All In-Person Conversation Groups meet in the lobby of the USC International Academy Building (DCC), in front of the Student Services desk.  Please arrive 5 minutes prior to your reservation to allow time for check-in. From there, the group leader will lead students to an open classroom or spot on campus (weather permitting) where the group will sit together and talk.

Who are our Conversation Group Partners

All of our conversation group partners are current USC students, who work at the USC International Academy. They are warm, friendly, patient, and experienced in international education so they understand the challenges faced when mastering a new language, and would love to talk to you.
